Plan your visit - Arts and Special Collections Research Center

Information for your visit

Welcome!

The Arts and Special Collections Research Center offers resources and spaces to support your research in the arts (music, art, theater, performance) and in all disciplines of rare and special collections.  This exciting blend of materials is your creative hub for inspiration, critical analysis, performance, and new scholarship.  Our team is ready to partner with you to help get your work started!

Where are we located?

We are in Moody Memorial Library on the 3rd floor.  Check out the Contact Us page for our hours, locations, etc.

Know what you want to see?

Please use the Schedule a visit form.  Staff need time to pull materials and ensure we have a space in our reading room to accommodate you.

Just curious about what collections we have?

You can fill out the Schedule a visit form to start a conversation with us.  We can help brainstorm ideas for your visit whether you are working individually or have a group that would like to visit.

What to expect:

Once you arrive on Moody Library 3rd floor and come into the Arts Center, you will see a circular desk.  If you’ve scheduled a visit, we will meet you there.  Special Collections materials must be used in the reading room and cannot be checked out.  Staff will stay nearby while you work with materials to help answer questions.

Rare and unique materials housed in our collections have lasted several if not hundreds of years.  Our goal is to ensure they last long into the future for more generations to experience.  We balance this curatorial role with the need for relevancy and support for new research.  Your new ideas and scholarship help us provide additional context and meaning to these valuable objects.  You can help achieve these goals by following some simple steps.

For visitors:

  • Please make sure that your hands are clean before you handle any materials
  • Around the area you are working, you may bring paper, note cards, a pencil, phone, camera, laptop computer, ipad or other devices.  Other belongings will be stored nearby.
  • Food and drink are prohibited
  • Photographs are permitted.  Please do not use a flash.
