Welcome to your open educational resources (OER) guide. This guide contains general information about open pedagogy and affordable course materials including where to locate existing resources that can be used in courses, how to adapt those materials when needed, and how to create materials that can be shared freely with others if existing sources do not meet the learning objectives of the course.

Purpose

The purpose of this guide is to help students, faculty, and staff learn more about open educational resources (OER) and how those materials can be used to enhance the teaching and learning experience. We will review the fundamentals of OER and provide guidance for locating, adopting, adapting, and creating OER materials.

Audience

This guide is part of the Affordable Educational Resources series. It is designed to help faculty learn how they can incorporate OER in their courses and to inform students about the affordable textbook options available to them.
