Using a Reading List in Canvas: Add items via the Library's catalog

Leganto Reading List from Ex Libris

Add items from the Library's catalog

In your Reading List, click on the Add items button to access the screen where you can search the Library’s collection. The Library Search feature will search the University Libraries’ collections of physical and electronic materials, including books, eBooks, articles/book chapters in databases, DVDs, CDs, streaming media, and more:

Once you have located the resource you need, simply click the item record and then click the Add button in the bottom right hand corner:

When using the search feature, if you find that the library does not have access to resource you are wanting to use for class, you can manually add the citation of that item using the Blank Form option, which is located next to the Library Search option, fill out the form with the appropriate information, and then click ADD & CLOSE. Once your list has been sent to the library for processing using the Library Review button, the reserves coordinator will reach back out to assist you in acquiring the material. You can also email the reserves coordinator directly with your acquisition requests at jordan_popp@baylor.edu. Once an item has been acquired, it will be added to your reading list by the libraries.

Important Notes for Adding eBooks

When adding eBooks to your reading list, check to make sure that the number of digital copies we have access to will be enough for your class size by clicking the "View Online" link and checking the eBook record. For titles where we only have access to a limited number of digital copies, you can contact jordan_popp@baylor.edu to see if an unlimited user eBook is available for purchase. Information regarding the number of digital copies of an eBook is available in both ProQuest eBook Central and EBSCO eBook Collection

In ProQuest eBook Central you can see how many copies are available in the "Availability" section of the webpage:

For EBSCO eBook Collection, scroll down in the eBook record to the "Concurrent User Level" section to see how many copies are available:

If you are unable to locate this information in other eBook databases, this typically means that students will have unlimited user access to the title. However, if you need to ensure unlimited user access for your class, please contact jordan_popp@baylor.edu to check how many digital copies are available for the eBook in question.
