Using a Reading List in Canvas: Add/upload items manually

Leganto Reading List from Ex Libris

Add Items Using the Upload a File Option

In your Reading List, click on the Add Items button to access the screen where you can search the Library’s collection or add a citation manually.

Using Upload a File, you can upload resources the library doesn’t own to use via a fair use claim, to license via the Copyright Clearance Center (who charge a fee for each unique student who accesses during the term of the Course), or that you've created and to which you own the copyright. To upload a file, either drag the file into the blue box or click the box to add it from a folder on your computer:

Afterwards, fill out the form with the appropriate citation information, then click Add & Close

Add Items Using the Blank Form Option

Another way to manually add items to your list is to use the Blank Form option. This feature is useful when needing to link to websites or other resources that are not available in the library OneSearch catalog. You can also use this feature to add citation-only material, such as required textbooks you'd like the students to purchase.

To use this feature, click the Add Items Button on the upper right corner of your reading list, then choose Blank Form. Next, click the drop down menu for the Type* field and choose the appropriate resource type. Then you will fill out the requested citation information, and include the URL link to the resource you are linking to for your students. Once you have filled out all the appropriate information, click Add & Close.
