BUS 3315: Research Paper

This guide contains resources and information to direct students in locating information needed for writing the research paper required in BUS 3315.

Why not use the internet?

Why don't we use the internet for research?

  • Not everything is free: While there is a lot of information out there, not all of it is free.  Much of the "Scholarly" or "Peer-reviewed" material requires that you pay for it.

  • Anyone can publish on the internet: There is no quality control on the internet, so material published by people who are not experts or scholars can be found on the internet.  Sometimes, it can be difficult to know what is misinformation and what is reliable.  You would need to take more time to sort through the information and determine its credibility.

  • Findability: Google is a search engine -- you put words in and it gives you LOTS of information back.  Some of this information may not be what you need.  With so much information and no filters to help you sift through the information, it can be difficult to find what you need.
  • Diversity: The library provides access to a wide array of information - books, rare books, manuscripts, maps, online videos.  Many of these items are not accessible via Google.  Many library resources are available to students for no charge.
