Music and Culture Collections

This collection contains more than 1,100 Christian music manuscripts that were produced for Word Records during the time the company was headquartered in Waco (1951-1988).   They were used in recordings by artists such as Burl Ives, Jerome Hines, Wayne Newton, Anita Bryant, and Ernie Ford, and many of the scores are accompanied by instrumental parts.  Though the composer/arranger is not identified in most cases, many are the works of the late Kurt Kaiser, a Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductee, Dove Award winner, and long-time Waco resident.
