Doctor of Ministry Library Orientation: Distance Ed. Services

Distance Education

"Distance Education Library Services are provided to Baylor clients for whom geographical distances between Waco and their local addresses prohibit frequent visits to the main campus," preventing in-person utilization of our research facilities.

Eligibility:

  • Currently enrolled Graduate Students who live 30+ miles away from Waco.*

*Please note: you may be asked to provide confirmation of your distance education status from the Seminary.

Accomodations: Document Delivery and Interlibrary Services

Document Delivery:  the physical or virtual "door to door" delivery of required materials from BU Libraries holdings to qualified users.

Interlibrary Services:  document delivery from other libraries, mediated through BU Libraries' OsoFast Interlibrary Services.

Prerequisite tool: Bear ID

Distance Education library services and many other library services require ID and password clearance. "The Bear ID is a username/password combination that functions as your key to these services as well as the variety of online resources available to Baylor students, faculty and staff. It authenticates you as an active member of the Baylor community and grants access to tools that are not open to the general public.

If you have not done so already, please complete the form at http://www.baylor.edu/activatebearid to activate your Bear ID.

Once you have activated your Bear ID, you will have full access to the resources and services provided by the Baylor Libraries."

Borrowing Directly from nearby libraries: TexShare

"The TexShare card program is a reciprocal borrowing program designed to facilitate direct borrowing of materials by eligible cardholders of a member institution from any participating library throughout Texas. Participating libraries agree to honor the Card Program Agreement. Registered users must obtain a TexShare Card from their home institution before they are able to check out materials from other participating institutions.

A TexShare card can be obtained by completing the online form.

Student cards must be renewed every semester."
