Decide which book you need

Explain the call number system and the location of the book

Pull the book from the shelves

(Sometimes we will have a student assistant who can go with you to the shelves but not always)

Check out the book to you or show you how to use the self-check-out.

Step One: Choose a topic

Choose your topic

Discuss with you the advantages and disadvantages of possible topics

Approve your topic.  That is up to your professor

Give you suggestions for narrowing or broadening your topic

Log on to the ILL OsoFast request with your BearID and password

The University Writing Center offers the following help:  Whether you want to work on an entire assignment or just have trouble with a few paragraphs, the Writing Center can help. We take the time to improve your skills as a writer so you can apply these skills to future papers and even to your future career. Feel free to ask for help with content, development, organization, style, or grammar. We also help with thesis statements, introductions, conclusions, citations, and formatting.
