LHSON Doctor of Nursing Practice and Masters' Students' Guide: Home

Guide for Nursing DNP and Master's Students by Nursing LRC Librarian

Welcome to the Nursing Graduate Student Guide

This guide is intended for Doctor of Nursing Practice and Masters degree graduate students at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing.  It provides information and guidance on literature research, including a few places to start.

Get Advice from the Nursing LRC Librarian

At the beginning of your program it's a good idea to make an appointment with a Nursing LRC librarian for practical advice on organizing research electronically, ways to research that will save you time in the long run, help with citation management resources, and identifying resources useful at the graduate level.  These sessions are tailored to the graduate student's individual interests.

To make an appointment send an email to nursinglrc@baylor.edu: Include the following information

  • Your name and at what point you are in your graduate program in the e-mail subject line (i.e., new DNP student, Scientific Inquiry, DNP Project I, etc.
  • The kind of the help you are seeking
    • how to search databases, finding DOIs, citation management, APA help etc.
  • Dates & times you are available to meet
    • Appointments by telephone, Skype or WebEx are an option
  • Your topic

(Please Note: the librarian is usually available 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Central Time Monday - Friday)

Nursing LRC Tools for Success

The LHSON Doctor of Nursing Practice and Masters Students' Guide is intended to supplement, rather than replace the Nursing LRC Tools for Success guide.  If you do not find what you are looking for on this guide, look at the Nursing LRC Tools for Success guide. Also look at the group of "How Do I...?" research guides. They cover topics such as how to access resources from off campus, how to locate a DOI, how to format references in APA style, how to use citation management programs such as RefWorks or Zotero, how to link to electronic resources, and much more. If none of those have what you are looking for, contact the Nursing LRC Librarian at nursinglrc@baylor.edu.
