Subject Specialist Librarians are available to teach classes on topics related to library research and information gathering. Our library instruction sessions are tailored specifically to your course and assignments and will help your students become expert researchers by:
Covering the Basics
Introducing advanced sources & search techniques
Implementing the ACRL Framework
Reducing Fear
We realize that many students are hesitant to ask for help, so these sessions are designed to give students the opportunity to meet a "real live" librarian. Students will be encouraged to approach the information desk or make an appointment with a librarian when they need assistance with an assignment.
Increasing Efficiency
After a library session, students should be able to retrieve information more efficiently - with less frustration. Our aim is to improve the quality of their work and increase independence in learning.
If you are teaching an ENG 1310, use the link above to schedule your library session. The library provides a standardized curriculum for these sessions covering the following student learning objectives:
1. Students will develop and apply a strategic searching plan, enabling them to find relevant information to support their research.
1310 Goal Equivalency:
2. Students will recognize authoritative sources within the context of their research in order to carefully select useful and supportive materials.
ENG 1310 Goal Equivalency:
3. Students will recognize the value of using Zotero in order to effectively manage their citations
